A walk along the backbone of Mexico City: the Zócalo - named after a statue that was never built -, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the love drama of poet Manuel Acuña, Madero street - renamed at gunpoint by Pancho Villa -, the Casa de los Azulejos, the Palacio de Bellas Artes (which has been sinking for over a century) and the Alameda Central, the oldest public park in the Americas and the inspiration for Diego Rivera's famous mural.

Route
- We start at Plaza de la Constitución (the Zócalo) and learn the origin of its name
- We visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and the courtyard of Manuel Acuña
- We explore Templo Mayor
- We walk toward the School of Medicine and Plaza Tolsá
- We pass by Madero Street and the Casa de los Azulejos
- We arrive at the Palacio de Bellas Artes
- We visit Alameda Central and Diego Rivera's mural
- We wrap up the activity
Departure points
- The meeting point is the Plazuela del Marqués / Plaza Menor, right behind the Metropolitan Cathedral (departure is at 9:00 am; please arrive 15 minutes early).
- How to get there: by Metro, get off at Zócalo station (Line 2) and walk about 5 minutes toward the north side of the Cathedral; you can also arrive via Metrobús Line 4 (Catedral/Templo Mayor station).
